Is your agent registered with the OFT?

The Office of Fair Trading requires estate agents to register with them under the Money Laundering Act 2007. They have recently made this register public, and a quick search on some of our local competitors shows a staggering amount that have not done so. Indeed, there are some that have registered one office, but they are required to register all offices.

This smacks of unprofessionalism and shoddy administration. It also makes you wonder if they follow any other rules and regulations, in particular with The Property Misdesciptions Act and The Estate Agency Act.

Market Update 23rd April 2012

While we have been out and about with our Scavenger Hunts and other WE LOVE MOVING events locally, many have asked what has been happening in the market so far this year. In response to those requests, here are the facts:

At the beginning of this year I made some predictions as how I felt it would go (please see here for the blog post – http://www.moverevolution.com/blog/?p=94 ).

At the time I suggested we would miss a double dip recession and I am hoping to be proved right with the official figures in the next few days.

With regard to the property market, the year to date has actually been much as we had predicted.

January and February were seasonally affected months, with more valuations than instructions as people made up their minds as to when to go to market. Then in March many of those owners began marketing their properties, and we had a record sales month. April has so far been similar to March, with property marketed at the right price selling very quickly.

Traditionally May is the best month of the year so hopefully there will be many more sales to come over the next few weeks.

UPDATED 1st MAY 2012

It seems that we are in a technical recession even though I wasn’t expecting the figures to show that. I would be surprised if the figures are not amended to show that we are not. However, in the last recession the contraction was 7% as opposed to 0.2% on these figures, so it is clear we are not comparing like for like.

April has continued to be busy, so we are still expecting the usual bumper month in May.

Our scavenger table looked amazing with all your finds, take a look at the photographs and see if you can see one of the things you found for the scavenger hunt. Some of you asked to get a copy of our Scavenger hunt so you can run your own hunts in Priory Park, we hope you have lots of fun, if you make any changes please let us know what else you hunted for!

We know you all loved your scavenger treat…. at the end of the day all our chocolate bunnies had gone!

Thank you for your lovely ideas and thoughts on events you would like to see in the Park during the year. We will be coming up with our next events very soon… so let us know on our facebook site any ideas that you have.

Where do all the birds live in Reigate?

We have had a wonderful morning at Priory Park in Reigate building homes for the birds in Reigate and learning all about the different families of birds from Richard and Sally the park Rangers

Thank you to all our Move Revolution Bird Box Builders, the birds in Reigate will all love their new homes! Please send photographs of your bird box and your bird family once they have settled into their new home.

We hope you enjoy looking at the photographs of you working very hard building your bird box and how proud you look of all your hard work!

We realised because this was so popular that some of you couldn’t join us on this occasion. We hope you will come down to Priory Park this Friday 13th April for our Scavenger hunt. It will be great fun and there is a treat waiting for you when you have finished your hunt!

Latest ‘We Love Moving’ event at Priory Park

We are delighted to announce … our second group of WE LOVE MOVING events at Priory Park to be held over three days this Easter holiday.

We listened to all the feedback you gave us during our Design a Treehouse week and lots of you have been in contact with ideas for activities at Priory Park…

We kick off with …

Bird Box building on Wednesday 11th April from 11am until 1pm. This is open to all ages .. but there is some hammering and probably some painting (we will need Mum, Dads, Grandma’s, Grandad’s or Carers to stay and help!) You will get the chance to build your own build bird box … a new home for a Reigate family of birds. If you join us for our bird box building day we are looking for budding junior bloggers and photographers to take photographs and write about the bird family that move into your new Move Revolution bird box!

Our second day will be filled with Den Building on Thursday 12th April from 10am until 12 midday… this is your chance to work with the Priory Park Rangers to learn how to build your very own den in the park, this activity is for anyone 8 years and over.

If you would like to build a bird box or a den you will need to book a place via our Priory Park booking email priorypark@reigate-banstead.gov.uk

The final activity day is the Move Revolution Scavenger Hunt on Friday 13th April … we are sure you will have all been involved in Easter Egg hunts so we wanted to create something a little bit different … this is welcome to all ages and there is no need to book. The scavenger hunt will be running from 10am until 2pm, all you need to do is come to The Pavilion in Priory Park, get your scavenger hunting sheet and then set off hunting for all the items around the park…when you have completed your scavenge come back to The Pavilion to claim your treat!

Congratulations to all our Winners…

We had a lovely morning last Saturday for our first prize giving at The Pavilion. The Mayor and Chris Crabtree, one of our Directors at Move Revolution presented the awards

We were really touched by the speech from The Mayor as he commended us for working with Priory Park and really getting involved at the heart of Reigate community capturing the imagination of so many children who entered our Design a Tree House Competition..

Dominic Jelley comments on his design:

The solar panels on the roof provide energy to power the house and the 90 inch plasma tv, so I can watch it with my friends. The intruder trap traps any unwanted guests that might want to steal any precious items. To elevate the lift, push the lever forwards and to lower it down, pull the lever back. I love my treehouse because it is eco-friendly and it is small and cozy.
