One of our favourite things about the South – specifically our specialist areas of Sussex and Surrey – is the independent shops. These stores provide something unique, allowing you to step away from high street brands.
With Christmas around the corner, we thought we’d give you Move Revolution’s pick of the coolest places to buy Christmas decorations in the South.
Reigate Garden Centre, Reigate
It may be a humble garden centre, but the selection of Christmas decorations available here feature a dazzling array of LED arrangements; a million miles from the flickering fairy lights draped across many peoples’ Christmas trees.
Of course, being a garden centre, you can also pick up your Norwegian Pine whilst you’re there.
Lovingly Made Ltd, East Grinstead
Lovingly Made is one of our favourite shops in East Grinstead, offering a beautiful collection of up-cycled, recycled, pre-loved vintage furniture and decorations.
They have a small, but perfectly formed, selection of Christmas decorations. Sadly the wooden reindeers are sold out, but these metal stars make for a delightfully shabby chic variation on the traditional Christmas star. Because they’re metal, they’ll last far longer than a year too.
Posh Totty Designs, Brighton
Posh Totty has been furnishing the good people of Brighton with vintage design since 2004. Their Christmas selection is so varied and beautiful – from fairy dust baubles to an adorable Christmas dog door stop – it’s difficult to choose favourites.
Priory Farm, Redhill
Priory Farm’s shop is a den of delicious food, upmarket cookware and stylish gifts. Sadly they don’t have any of their decorations online, but if their usual standard is anything to go by they’re bound to be nothing short of brilliant.
Even better, you can pick up everything else you need for Christmas while you’re there. Time it right and you could even meet Santa.
Izzy’s Party Shop, Haywards Heath
Izzy’s Party Shop is a local favourite, unfailingly delivering party supplies for any occasion, and Christmas is no different.
Our favourite decoration at Izzy’s is this Snowman Pinata. Fill it with sweets and small gifts, and what you have is a far more fun alternative to the traditional Christmas stocking.
Woodcote Green Garden Centre, Croydon
Just south of Croydon, Woodcote Green has a similarly spectacular range of Christmas decorations to Reigate Garden Centre.
The Craft Barn, Redhill
Everyone knows the coolest Christmas decorations are handmade, and the Craft Barn has nothing but.
Their Christmas workshop features a smorgasbord of homely Christmas cheer, like this papier mache penguin. Or, for a fun activity with the kids, make something yourself with these Christmas stencils and wreath blanks.
Take a trip to just one of these places and you’ll have the coolest Christmas house in the South.
