Summerhill Close, Haywards Heath

Guide Price £750,000

Simply stunning. Tucked away on a sought after private road just a few moments from Haywards Heath station and on the cusp of Lindfield, an extended and beautifully presented Turner designed family home with four bedrooms.

DESCRIPTION This semi detached 1930’s house is a great family home in a beautiful spot within walking distance of Haywards Heath station. The private road of Summerhill Close provides residents with a tucked away and tranquil position, yet close to facilities. This home has been extended both on the ground floor and on the second floor to create excellent entertaining space and bedrooms to suit a growing family.

There are a few features that you would expect to see in a Turner house that gives this home the edge. The style of fireplaces in the sitting room and the master bedroom are striking, as are the stained glass windows. The ground floor extension has created an excellent family room which overlooks the rear garden. Access from the entrance hall is provided by bi fold doors, with further bi folds which lead you out to the terrace. These doors, coupled with the double sky lights, provide a huge amount of light into this room. The karndean flooring in the entrance hall, family room and WC benefits from underfloor heating which means even in winter, this is a great part of the home. We particularly like the skylight in the entrance hall, demonstrating that plenty of thought was considered when the extension was commissioned.

The sitting room measures an impressive 20′ in length and leads directly out onto the terrace. We particularly like the open fireplace and the beams in this room. The former dining room and kitchen is now one beautiful kitchen diner with plenty of storage and work tops and is the perfect spot to entertain in.

On the first floor there are three bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom is impressive and offers a similar size to the sitting room – 20′ x 11’10. There are floor to ceiling built in wardrobes, a large storage cupboard and a view over the rear garden. The en-suite features a large walk in shower with Aqualisa shower head and underfloor heating. Bedrooms two and three are located to the front. Stairs rise to the second floor and the impressive loft conversion. There is plenty of eave storage space on the second floor, with the bedroom overlooking the rear.

Across the back of the house is a terrace which is perfect for outdoor entertaining. The favoured south/easterly aspect ensures that this is a sun trap and can be accessed from the sitting room and the bi fold doors in the family room. Steps leads you to the lawned garden which is generous and holds a summerhouse, currently used as a gym and set up with power and lighting at the far end. To the front is a gravelled drive with plenty of off road parking and entrance is gained via the five bar wooden gate. Summerhill Close enjoys a ‘green island’ area which essentially allows cars to drive in one direction, with the island having a seating area and a swing.

LOCATION Summerhill Close is in our opinion, one of the most prestigious roads in Haywards Road. A tucked away private road, it just a few moments from Haywards Heath station, making it perfect for commuters, along with Sainsbury’s and the newly opened Waitrose. For those that prefer the independent outlet, Cloughs deli, operating since the 1930’s is located a short walk along Sunte Avenue. Further along the road is one of one of our favourite pubs, the Witch Inn where the food is excellent. The bustling High Street of Lindfield is the centre point of a thriving community with a wide range of independent shops to choose from. For an evening meal you can’t go wrong at the Limes Restaurant or Paolino’s Italian. The newly opened Lindfield Coffee Works, tucked away on Alma Road off the High Street is proving to be a big hit and our go to place for coffee. Lindfield Common is a great spot to watch the world go by; cricket at the weekends in the summer or football in the winter. It is also the home of the bowls club. And on a Friday evening at the top of the common, you can’t beat the Fish & Chip van!

For schools, the both highly regarded Blackthorns and Harlands Primary are within approximately one mile, as is Oathall Community College. Importantly for many local residents, the ability to get to Haywards Heath mainline train station is crucial. Published train times to London Bridge and Victoria are approximately 50 minutes, whilst Brighton is around 20 minutes.

There are great places to get out and explore from Haywards Heath, National Trust facilities are located locally at Wakehurst Place and Nymans Gardens, with Sheffield Park less than 15 minutes by road. Brighton can be found 15 miles to the south, whilst a short drive north takes you to Crawley, London Gatwick and the A/M23.
