As Spring transitions into Summer, it’s time to prepare for the upcoming May bank holiday, and this month we are fortunate to have two bank holidays! Who doesn’t enjoy a long weekend?! We certainly do and have some excellent suggestions to help you decide on your plans in case you’re unsure of what to do!

Brighton Fringe Festival

Established in 1967, the Brighton Fringe Festival is England’s largest and most well-established annual curated multi-arts festival. Held over three weeks in May, the festival showcases music, theatre, dance, art, film, literature, debates, outdoor activities, and community events at various venues throughout Brighton, Hove, and East Sussex. Craft & Design Fair at RHS Wisley

Experience a stroll through stunning gardens and shop at the Spring Craft and Design Fair in the picturesque setting of RHS Garden Wisley. In addition to vibrant marquees offering a wide array of original and budget-friendly designs, the Craft and Design Fair features artists demonstrating their art, a delightful food village, and live music.

Sculpture Exhibition at Ramster Hall and Garden

An enchanting woodland setting showcases a collection of inspiring original sculptures. These remarkable pieces of art will be displayed in the garden, enhancing the already dramatic display of more than 300 rhododendrons, azaleas, and camellias that bloom in vibrant colors at Ramster during spring.

Magnificent Motoring Spectacular in Eastbourne

Magnificent Motors has become renowned as one of the largest free motoring events on the South Coast. Be a part of Magnificent Motors, where car lovers unite to exhibit a vast array of cherished vehicles, from classic cars to motorbikes. The event welcomes over 600 vehicles over the two days, with fairground rides and food & beverage stands so there certainly isn’t a shortage of atmosphere!

May Day Weekend at Hever Castle

Hastings Traditional Jack & The Green

Hastings Traditional Jack in the Green is a yearly celebration held in the historic coastal town of Hastings. This four-day event draws crowds from across the UK and beyond. It’s a quintessential British May Day festivity!The weekend extravaganza features live music, dancing, and social gatherings, promising fun for the whole family (sunshine not guaranteed). The highlight of the event is the vibrant procession on Bank Holiday Monday, parading through Hastings Old Town with a mix of characters, dancers, drummers, giants, and more. The climax takes place on West Hill with the symbolic slaying of the Jack to welcome the spirit of summer.
